Denmark Woman Charged with 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child and Child Enticement

Brown County, WI - Thomasina Cook, 30, was formally charged in Brown County Circuit Court on two counts of 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child and two counts of Child Enticement - Sexual Contact.

According to the criminal complaint, between November 11th and November 30, 2017, in the village of Denmark, Cook had sexual contact with a child under the age of 16. The complaint also alleges that Cook lured the child into a room for purposes of sexual contact.

On December 2, 2017, a deputy with the Brown County Sheriff's Department was contacted by a family member about a possible sexual assault of a child. The family member stated on November 11, they found her and the victim, a friend of the family, at Memorial Park near the shelter house. The complainant suspected Ms. Cook of having an inappropriate relationship with the victim.

On November 13, Cook's husband had reported her missing and later found that she checked herself into a treatment center. Per the criminal complaint, when she returned home on November 14, her husband confronted her about her relationship with the victim. At this point, Mrs. Cook said the victim forced her to have sex and stated she could not remember because she was high on marijuana.

The complaint also states that a friend of Cooks contacted a family member and played a recording where Thomasina was having a conversation with the victim on speakerphone. During the conversation, a reference was made regarding oral sex.

The family member confronted Thomasina regarding the sexual contact with the victim. At that time, Ms. Cook threatened to call the police and report that the family member tried to force sex on her, which he stated was not true.

While speaking with detectives in early December, the victim's father stated that the victim has the mental capacity of a much younger person.

On December 20th, an interview took place with the investigator and the victim. While not completely cooperative, the victim did reveal details of what may have occurred between them. During the interview, the victim stated the first time he met Ms.Cook, at a fast food restaurant, she made remarks such as, "How big are you?" and that she "wanted to feel him on her stomach."

Per the criminal complaint, the recorded conversation between Cook and the victim has her stating things like, "Can you handle my mouth?"

On January 4, 2018, an informant told detectives that the victim had sex with Cook, and during it decided he no longer wanted to continue. The source also stated they witnessed the victim and Cook kissing on a bunk bed.

On January 23, the victim met with an investigator and confirmed that he had not told the entire truth during the first interview because he was not comfortable talking about it with a female present.  He admitted to having two separate sexual contacts with Cook. One incident alleges he woke up to Thomasina's hands on his genitals. The second incident allegedly happened after she had given him some water and he blacked out. When he woke up, he was in her bedroom. She had reportedly unbuckled his pants and got on top of him.

Ms. Cook had an initial appearance in court on February 7 where a $5,000 cash bond was set. There is a no contact order with the victim and any minors other than her children. As of today, Cook is out on bond.

If convicted on the 2nd Degree Sexual Assault Charges, she can face up to 40 years in prison. If convicted on the Child Enticement - Sexual Contact charges, she faces imprisonment of up to 25 years.

Cook's next appearance in court is scheduled on February 21.
