Brown County Brouhaha - April 2018




Inspired by Rick and Len’s legendary Small Town Crime WaveBrown County Brouhaha recaps some of the month’s more noteworthy calls made through the Brown County dispatch. Sometimes tragic, often times hysterical, Brown County Brouhaha is a harsh reminder of what our public servants deal with on a day-to-day basis. Thanks to all who contributed.

1700 block Main St – Report of a billboard smoking, possibly on fire
UPDATE: No fire – was part of an advertisement



4:25 pm – 4/2/18
1200 block S Broadway - Officers are out w/ a stolen vehicle – the granddaughter and her crew of 4 in custody

2400 block University Ave – Semi spilled animal waste in roadway

Rowe Ln – Animal carcass left on complainant’s property

1300 block Dousman – Rental property owner states some squirrels have been showing up dead and bleeding from the mouth – been a total of six – is concerned someone may be putting poison out and it may affect other animals

EB on Walnut St Bridge – Report of a porta potty in traffic

Lambeau Field – Male called 911 to report that two men who said they were Sheriffs walked up to him and stole his merchandise – police replied that these men are undercover officers at the Resch Center for the Judas Priest concert. The male was issued a citation. Male was not pleased that his merch was taken so he called 911 again

600 block Grignon – Complainant states there’s a squirrel in her son’s room

1400 block Guns Rd – WEAPONS CALL – vehicle was reportedly hit by gunfire and is now fully engulfed in flames – multiple calls on this – blue BMW allegedly shot at the vehicle, last seen SB on Guns Rd – altercation may have originated at Walmart

E2200 block Old Settlers Rd – Tisch Mills – fully engulfed house fire

1200 block 9th St – Vehicle vs. multiple houses

1000 block S Broadway – In the parking lot a dark 4 door that’s parked in a disabled spot – believe someone’s “Having relations” inside

1401 E Mason – Walgreens – ARMED ROBBERY – no injuries – African American male brandished a knife and fled the scene w/ an undisclosed amount of money – suspect remains at large

N Roosevelt @ E Walnut – Failed field sobriety test

2000 block Memorial Dr – Someone living in their hallway closet – no idea who they are

1000 block Lime Kiln – Complainant stating her boyfriend hit her with a broom

1000 block University – Employee locked themselves in a storage closet - manager has given permission to force entry

Hinkle St – Traffic stop – K9 Unit searched, hit, and an arrest made

Howard Dog Park – Suspicious plastic bag – complainant didn’t want to stop and look but is concerned something is inside it

9th St – Looks like the neighbor in Apt 1 called the complainant six times, knocked on his door, and texted him a couple of times telling him his toilet is running, it’s not – is causing the complainant a lot of anxiety

900 block S Maple – Male on porch wearing only a speedo harassing the mail carrier

300 block 13th Ave – Police in foot chase w/ group of males – one of the males has long dreads and is wearing gray sweatshirt and jogging pants (report the males were exchanging gunfire w/ people) – area schools going on lockdown – PD made contact w/ suspects 300 block of Oak – 3 are in custody, 1 remains at large

500 block N Norwood – Recliner still in traffic

Area of Badger & Perkins – A U-Haul truck just did a burnout

600 block 12th – Male/male physical – one of the males was struck in the head w/ a cup and has locked himself inside a vehicle

Perkins Park – Male party 30s states it’s not safe for him to go home because his girlfriend is being mean

Bodart @ Monroe – Police w/ K9 Unit search vehicle and arrest adult male

423 Dousman St – Exclusive Company – Vehicle hit railing in front of store

Sahara Dr – Highly intoxicated male – has been on the floor for several days

Sunshine Pl – Male/female physical disturbance – unknown weapons – male slammed female against the wall and she was screaming “Don’t kill me!”

1100 block E Walnut – Male hit complainant’s vehicle with his own and is now at her house threatening to break in

Maggie Ln – Complainant states snowplow intentionally hit his mailbox, possible verbal disturbance

1000 block Ashwaubenon St – Machine Service – partial roof collapse – no reports of injuries

Area of Velp & Shea – Complainant honked at a yellow truck occupied by a male – the male in the yellow truck then followed complainant for a bit and then got out of his truck and waved a knife at complainant – last seen on Shea

Larsen Rd – WI Building Supply – partial roof collapse over showroom area – no injuries

Velp Ave – Snowmobiles passing vehicles in the middle of the road

Main St – near China Buffet – There’s a white Dodge Dart in front of the parking lot w/ a dog inside and the windows rolled down – been there for about 35 minutes

1800 block Smith St – Four juveniles outside yelling & screaming w/ no shirts on and their pants are down

University Ave – Complainant is upset that neighbor is shoveling snow into their driveway – states if officers don’t arrive soon there’s going to be a fight

University - GB Metro – FD investigating condition of roof – possible buckling in spots – evacuating as a precaution

Oneida @ Ramada – male black walking in the middle of the road w/ a dog, he’s yelling at the dog, dog’s paws are bleeding – caller thinks he may be possibly abusive to it – male is also possibly intoxicated
UPDATE: Male is urinating in the parking lot of Motel 6 right in front of responding officer

1600 block Western Ave – Plow trucks on scene waiting to plow the parking lot and there’s a U-Haul refusing to leave and being verbal

True Ln – Complainant stating they can see an elderly female w/ a sign that says “Please Help” – she’s completely snowed in


9:30 am – 4/17/18

Howard Dog Park – Disturbance – male party w/ two dogs being verbal w/ female plow truck driver – plow driver is now locked inside her vehicle and the male is pacing around her truck

Walnut @ Monroe – Vehicle rollover – no injuries

Austin Straubel Airport – Party being detained for trying to enter plane with marijuana


3 pm – 4/18/18
Active disturbance between 20-30 juveniles fighting, no weapons, they’re on the trail between Hudson & Shawano near Western Ave

Siesta Ln – Male/male verbal over a parking space – ongoing issue apparently

Unknown location – reckless snowplow driver – cutting people off and slamming on its brakes – Chevy Silverado w/ snowplow in the back

800 block Cherry St – Weapons call – disturbance involving multiple people fighting – one of the females has a shovel

Rockdale – Vehicle theft – Dodge Durango – complainant believes his mother is the suspect

Danz @ Newberry – STRONG ARM ROBBERY – 3 people involved, suspects left in a dark colored vehicle w/ no plates, last seen EB on Deckner – victim is injured and needs rescue, is bleeding from the face

200 block S Chestnut – Male party stating he’s in the alley and a dog is trying to attack him – he’s currently standing on top of the vehicle

1600 block Main St – Complainant stating customer came in to the store and stole his dog then left in a silver vehicle

400 block 4th St – Intoxicated male knocking on complainant’s door, now sitting on their porch – male white wearing a cowboy hat, tan jacket & jeans

Imperial Ln – Female/female physical disturbance – parties are currently separated – one of them had a bat – the other is requesting rescue – was hit in the face and has an arm injury

Shawano Ave – Complainant states upstairs neighbors are talking about her and spreading rumors

2:30 pm – 4/20/18 2500 block W Mason – Customer dropped off some equipment and a jar of marijuana by mistake

4000 block Shawano Ave – Anonymous caller on 911 to report a noise complaint coming from the bar – stated they can feel vibrations from the noise

Radisson St – McDonalds – Male party creating a disturbance – is not happy about his meal

200 block Dousman – Someone parked in a handicapped spot & currently drinking

600 block Scheuring Rd – Possible SWATTING – called in as a hostage situation, four hostages strapped to pipe bombs w/ a ransom demand

1500 block Cedar – In reference to complainant’s car being egged

800 block S Broadway – Intoxicated female party crashed her vehicle into a snow bank – failed field sobriety test (officers were extremely polite, patient, and accommodating w/ this individual)

Riverside Dr @ St. Pats Rd – Loose cow eating grass in someone’s yard

Oakland Ave – Multiple calls, including one on 911, for occupants in a tan Nissan smoking marijuana

Lime Kiln Rd – Family Dollar – Report of a vehicle crashing through a window

1400 block Division – Suspicious situation – unknown suspect came to complainant’s door stating they had to “come in and get something”

1000 block Moraine Way – Adult male stating he was kidnapped, is now all bloody, and is requesting rescue – EMS & PD en route

300 block Dousman – dead rabbit left in a bag

900 block Holzer – male party dragged down the street by multiple people inside a 2 door blue Saturn

Dousman @ N Ashland – Wild turkey running in & out of traffic

Officer: “Only one call on the gobbler?”

2200 block W Mason – Dark green van with a naked male sleeping inside

100 William – Voyageur Park – Complainant states a male white wearing brown waders and a camo jacket is drinking and harassing people
UPDATE: Male taken into custody

1400 block Smith St – Apartment fire

Bay Beach Rd – Yacht Club – boat on fire




Noon – 4/25/18
500 block Norwood – SWAT situation (suspect was later in the day apprehended at a residence on Badger St)






5:04 pm – 4/25/18

Norwood/Elmore area – Local media stating some residents in the area are harassing them





8:30 pm – 4/25/18

County J – Call reporting four black males “filming stuff” – one had no shoes on and was seen coming out of the trunk of a vehicle

UPDATE: Males are from IL shooting a movie, are not doing anything wrong, and will be busy for another hour or so

900 block Hillcrest Heights – Vehicle accident with a “car on its roof”




2:05 pm – 4/26/18

800 block Howard St – Complainant states her mother texted her to say she is taking a taxi to her house, is going to bust out all her windows, and beat her up

Chicago St – Theft of a dog and other items – suspect not on scene




8:50 pm – 4/26/18

300 block Deschane Pl – Report of “two cats being physical with each other in a bush”

UPDATE: One of the cats left, the other one is still in the bush and possibly injured

Water rescue for male party who jumped from the Main St bridge

Chestnut @ 7th - female outside w/ chains around her ankles
UPDATE: Rescue being sent to area of Chestnut @ 8th for teen female w/ chain around her ankle, has bruising

Waube by Kwik Trip- female stating she ran her boyfriend’s foot over on accident - he walked away towards the bowling alley, but she thinks he may be hurt

St George St – possible weapons call – male party pulled gun on complainant’s son and got into a white car
