Body Recovered in Green Bay's East River [VIDEO]

Dive Team Recovers Body from East River

Green Bay, WI - The Green Bay Police Department's Dive Team recovered a male body from the East River this afternoon near University and Quincy.

The Medical Examiner is on scene and an autopsy will be performed. Police will wait for results of the autopsy to make a positive identification of the person found.

In December, police and fire crews searched the East River after a 911 call was made by a witness who heard a male screaming for help from the ice. The witnesses were not able to get to the male at the time of the incident and state the male went into the water and never resurfaced. Rescue teams were unable to locate anyone at the time of the search.
UPDATE: Per family social media posts, the body recovered was that of Ryan Riebe, the young man who went missing back in December and thought to have drowned in the East River. We're hoping this discovery can bring some closure to his family and friends and wish them strength & peace during this difficult time.
